What is the Pure Land Way?

The Pure Land Way is the path of Pure Land Buddhism by which we accept the help Amitabha Buddha is offering, to meet us in our moment of death and grant us entry to the higher realm of his Pure Land where we all can quickly become Buddhas. Other Buddhist paths, such as Zen and Vajrayana Tibetan Buddhism, rely on each individual making extreme effort in meditation, ethics and the study of the Buddha’s teachings to purify their heart-mind into enlightenment. The traditions of the Pure Land Way acknowledge our human foolishness and the inability of people today to accomplish their own enlightenment. Through regularly saying or reciting Amitabha’s name we create a direct and personal connection with him, as he hears all who say his name. This awareness is a spiritual light which shines upon us as a blessing in this life and as the guarantee of our enlightenment in his Pure Land after we die.
