John Del Bagno was born to a family of recent immigrants to the USA, with his grandparents and mother emigrating from Italy, Wales and Germany. He was raised in Thornwood, New York near White Plains. Leaving at age 17 for Boston where he earned his B.F.A. in Writing, Literature and Publishing/Philosophy at Emerson College.

Since 1989, he has made San Francisco, California and the Bay Area his home. At San Francisco State University he was awarded a M.A. in Gerontology. He has had a long career as a Case Manager specializing in the care of those with Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementias and currently is one of the Directors at a retirement community.
